🌹 Salawat — Blessings on the Prophet ﷺ

Darood Shareef Collection

Sending Salawat (blessings) upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a divine command enshrined in the Holy Quran. "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace."Surah Al-Ahzab 33:56

💡 What is Darood Shareef?
Darood Shareef (also known as Salawat or Durood) refers to the act of invoking blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Arabic word "Salat" in this context means praise, glorification, and the invocation of blessings. Allah Himself sends blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and He commands the believers to do so as well. Each Darood has unique rewards, timings, and methods of recitation passed down through centuries of Islamic scholarship.
🌿 The Most Authentic & Quranic Darood

Darood Ibrahim

The Salawat Ibrahimiyyah — recited in every Salah at the end of Tashahhud. This is the most authentic, comprehensive and widely accepted form of Darood.

📚 Source: Sahih Bukhari 3370
⏱️ Recommended: After every Fardh Salah

O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

🕌
Forgiveness of 10 Sins

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever recites Salawat upon me once, Allah sends ten blessings upon him." (Sahih Muslim 408)

⬆️
10 Ranks Raised

For each Salawat, your status is raised 10 degrees in the sight of Allah (Sunan Nasai).

💎
Duas Are Accepted

Begin and end your Dua with Darood — your supplications reach Allah more readily (Sunan Tirmidhi 486).

🛡️
Protection from Poverty

Regular recitation is a means of protection from poverty and a cause of abundance in sustenance (Barakah).

🤝
Closeness to the Prophet ﷺ

"The most deserving of my intercession is the one who recites most Salawat upon me." (Sunan Tirmidhi 484)

Compulsory in Every Salah

Darood Ibrahim is recited in every Salah in the Qa'dah (sitting position). It is a pillar of the prayer.

Best Times to Recite Darood Ibrahim: After every Fardh Salah (compulsory prayer), abundantly on Fridays (Jumu'ah), during times of distress, before making Dua, after Adhan, and as much as possible throughout the day.
1
Begin with Wudu

While not strictly required, being in a state of purity (Wudu) increases the spiritual benefit of recitation.

2
Face the Qibla

It is recommended to face the direction of the Qibla (Makkah) when making any form of remembrance of Allah.

3
Recite with Heart

Recite slowly and mindfully, with love for the Prophet ﷺ in your heart. Ponder the meaning of each word.

4
Set a Daily Target

Many scholars recommend 100 Salawat daily, or at minimum 10 in the morning and 10 in the evening.

5
Friday Abundance

"Send abundant Salawat upon me on Fridays" — increase to 200 or 1000 times on Jumu'ah day.

6
End with Dua

After Salawat, make your personal supplications. The Prophet ﷺ said prayers ascend and are accepted.

O Allah, send prayers upon our master and patron Muhammad, the possessor of the crown, the Mi'raj, the Buraq and the flag, the repeller of hardships, epidemics, droughts, diseases and pain. His name is written, exalted, combined and engraved upon the Preserved Tablet and the Pen. The master of both Arabs and non-Arabs, whose body is sanctified, fragrant, pure and illuminated in the House and the Sanctuary. He is the bright sun, the full moon of the dark night, the foremost in loftiness, the light of guidance, the cave of refuge for mankind, the lantern in darkness. He is of beautiful character, the intercessor for nations, the possessor of graciousness and generosity. Allah is his protector, Gabriel his servant, the Buraq his mount, the Mi'raj his voyage, the Lote Tree of the Uppermost Limit his station, two bows' length the object of his quest. He is the master of the Messengers, Seal of the Prophets, intercessor of sinners, comforter of strangers, mercy for the worlds, delight of divine lovers, the sun of the gnostics, the lantern of those brought near, the lover of the poor and destitute. The master of humans and Jinn, Prophet of the two sanctuaries, Imam of the two Qiblas, our means in both abodes, grandfather of Hasan and Husayn, a light from the light of Allah. O you who yearns for the light of his beauty — invoke blessings and peace upon him, his family and Companions.
👑
Crown of All Darood

Known as the "King of Darood" — encompasses the most comprehensive praise of the Prophet ﷺ.

The text explicitly describes the Prophet ﷺ as "repeller of calamity, plague, drought, illness and pain."

🤍
Deep Love for the Prophet ﷺ

Its eloquence nurtures profound Muhabbat (love) for the Prophet ﷺ in the heart of the reciter.

🌊
Ocean of Blessings

Scholars describe Darood Taj as entering an ocean of divine mercy — each recitation brings a tide of blessings.

🕯️
Illumination of Heart

Regular recitation illuminates the heart with Noor of the Prophet ﷺ and drives away spiritual darkness.

🎯
Accepted Intercession

Reciters are hopeful of the Shafa'ah (intercession) of the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgement.

Recommended Practice: 7× after Fajr & 7× after Maghrib daily. For Hajaat: 313× on Thursday evening. The original version (by Shaykh Abu Bakr) can be recited as many times as desired — asking for blessings equal to the infinite knowledge of Allah.
1
Make Wudu & Niyyah

Be in a state of purity. Intend to send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ for the pleasure of Allah.

2
Best Time: After Maghrib

Thursday evening (night before Jumu'ah) is the most blessed time to recite Darood Taj.

3
Use Tasbeeh Beads

Count with Tasbih beads. 7, 11, 41, 100, or 313 are all recommended counts.

Darood Tunajeena

Transmitted by Shaykh Musa al-Darir, who received it in a dream vision from the Prophet ﷺ during a deadly storm at sea. Reciting it 1000× during hardship brings deliverance by the will of Allah. Also known as Salat al-Munjiyya (Prayer of Rescue).

📖 Story of Revelation: Shaykh Musa al-Darir was on a ship caught in a deadly storm known as "the Capsizer" (al-iqlabiyya). In a dream, the Prophet ﷺ taught him this prayer and said: "Tell the passengers to recite it 1000 times." By 300 recitations, the storm had completely settled. (Narrated by Shaykh Umar ibn Ali al-Fakahani in Fajr al-Munir)

O Allah, send upon our master Muhammad a prayer through which You deliver us from all terrors and tribulations; and through which You fulfil for us every need; and through which You purify us from every sin; and through which You raise us to the loftiest of degrees in Your Presence; and through which You cause us to reach the furthest limit, in all forms of goodness, in this life and after death.
Rescue from Calamities

The Prophet ﷺ himself taught this Darood to save people from a deadly storm — proven deliverance from all terrors.

All Needs Fulfilled

Explicitly asks Allah to "fulfil every need" — one of the most complete Salawat for Hajaat (pressing needs).

🌿
Purification from Sins

Uniquely asks for purification from "every sin" — a Salawat of spiritual cleansing and renewal.

⬆️
Elevation of Ranks

Asks for the highest of degrees — a Salawat for spiritual elevation and closeness to Allah.

🌙
Goodness in This Life & Next

One of the few Salawat that explicitly encompasses blessings "in this life AND after death."

🗝️
Key to All Goodness

"The furthest limit of all goodness" — Ibn Arabi said it is one of the treasures of the Throne, answered like lightning.

Key Practice: Recite 1000× during any adversity for deliverance. For daily use: 11× after any Salah. The Prophet ﷺ recommended it 1000× on Friday morning (between the 2 Sunnah and Fardh of Fajr) for the fulfilment of special needs.
1
Begin with Isti'adha

Say: أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم — then Bismillah before beginning.

2
Friday Morning: 1000×

Most powerful on Friday between the 2 Sunnah and 2 Fardh of Fajr for urgent needs.

3
In Hardship: 1000×

Shaykh Hasan al-Aswani: "Anyone who recites 1000× during adversity will be delivered by Allah."

4
Daily: 11× After Salah

For consistent blessings, recite 11× after every obligatory Salah as a daily Wird.

5

O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and his Family (Āl) and his Progeny (ʿItrah), in the number of every known thing to You — i.e., infinite blessings equal to the boundless knowledge of Allah.
I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living (Al-Ḥayy), the Sustainer of Existence (Al-Qayyūm), and I turn to Him in repentance. — The Sayyidu l-Istighfar formula embedded within the Salawat.
O Ever-Living, O Sustainer! — Two of the greatest Names of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Hold fast to Yā Ḥayyu Yā Qayyūm — whoever recites it in the morning and evening, Allah will be sufficient for them." (Tirmidhi)

O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and his Family and his Progeny, in the number of every known thing to You.

I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of Existence, and I turn to Him in repentance.

O Ever-Living! O Sustainer of Existence!

♾️
Infinite Salawat

"In the number of every known thing to You" — asking for blessings equal to the boundless, infinite knowledge of Allah.

💚
Includes Istighfar

Uniquely combines Salawat with seeking forgiveness — each recitation brings both blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ and personal purification.

Power of Yā Ḥayyu Yā Qayyūm

Ends with two of Allah's greatest Names. The Prophet ﷺ said these Names are sufficient for all affairs when recited morning and evening.

🌸
Blessings on the Family

Explicitly includes the Prophet's ﷺ family (Āl) and progeny (ʿItrah) — a comprehensive Salawat that honours the entire prophetic household.

⏱️
Quick Yet Profound

Brief enough to recite after every Salah yet contains infinite depth — the ideal daily Darood for busy believers.

🤲
Tawbah & Closeness

The Istighfar component means each recitation is both a Salawat and a sincere act of turning back to Allah — double reward.

Recommended Practice: Recite after every obligatory Salah. Even 3× after each Salah = 15× daily. For morning & evening Adhkar, pair with Sayyidu l-Istighfar. The Yā Ḥayyu Yā Qayyūm ending makes it ideal for times of difficulty and anxiety.
1
After Every Salah

Recite at least 3× after each Fardh Salah. This gives 15+ recitations daily with maximum Barakah.

2
Morning & Evening Dhikr

Include in your morning and evening Adhkar alongside Sayyidu l-Istighfar for complete spiritual protection.

3
Times of Distress

When anxious or troubled, repeat Yā Ḥayyu Yā Qayyūm as a standalone dhikr — the Prophet ﷺ specifically recommended it for hardship.

4
Before Sleeping

Recite 11× before sleep. The combination of Salawat and Istighfar before sleep is especially praised by scholars.

5
Teach Children

Its shortness makes it ideal to teach children. Even young children can memorise and recite all three parts.

6
With Understanding

Read the meaning before reciting. Understanding "bi-ʿadadi kulli maʿlūmin lak" — infinite blessings — deepens the experience.

📚 Notes: Durood Awaisia is widely recited in South Asian Islamic tradition. Combines three powerful elements: Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ and his family, Istighfar (seeking forgiveness), and calling upon Allah's names Al-Ḥayy and Al-Qayyūm. Suitable for all ages and all occasions.

✨ The Meaning of the Name Muhammad

The name Muhammad comes from the root ḥ-m-d (ح-م-د) meaning to praise. It is the passive participle of the second form, conveying "one who is praised continuously and abundantly." He is named so because his mention is constant on the tongues and in the hearts of the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth.

His grandfather Abd al-Muttalib named him Muhammad. When asked why he chose a name unknown among his forefathers, he replied: "It is my hope that the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth will praise him." (Abu Nuaym al-Isfahani)

According to Qadi Iyad and affirmed by Zarqani, no one was known by the name Muhammad until shortly before the Prophet's ﷺ birth — confirming his unique and singular station.

📖 Ruqyah & Protection — Ayat of Shifa

Manzil Quran

Manzil is a special compilation of 17 Quranic Surahs and specific Ayat (verses) selected by the great hadith master Shaykh Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhalawi (RA) — used as a comprehensive protection (Hisn) against black magic, evil eye, Jinn possession, and all spiritual harms.

📖

What is Manzil Quran?

Manzil (مَنزل — "destination/stopping place") is a compilation of 17 selected Quranic Surahs and specific Ayat collected by the renowned Islamic scholar Shaykh Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhalawi (1898–1982 CE) of Saharanpur, India. He compiled it based on Hadith indicating specific verses were used by the Prophet ﷺ and companions as protection against spiritual harm.

The word Manzil in Arabic also refers to a "stage" of a journey — reciting it is like completing a stage of one's spiritual journey each day. It takes approximately 15–20 minutes to recite and can be completed once in the morning and once in the evening.

🌿

Hadith Evidence

Sahih Bukhari & Muslim: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Recite the last two Ayat of Surah Al-Baqarah. They were given to me from a treasure beneath the Throne of Allah. Learn them and teach your women and children, for they are a blessing, a means of proximity, and an intercession."
Sunan Abu Dawud: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah in the night — they will be sufficient for him (as protection)."

Each section of Manzil is drawn from authentic Hadith sources confirming their protective and healing properties.

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds — The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Alif, Lam, Meem. This is the Book about which there is no doubt — a guidance for those conscious of Allah, who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them. The right course has become clear from the wrong. Whoever disbelieves in false gods and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. (2:257) Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their allies are false gods; they take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
4️⃣ Surah Al-Imran — Ayat 18–19
The Family of Imran • Testimony of Tawheed
Shahidallāhu annahu lā ilāha illā huwa wal-malāʾikatu wa ulul-ʿilmi qāʾimam-bil-qisṭ, lā ilāha illā huwal-ʿazīzul-ḥakīm. Innad-dīna ʿindallāhil-islām.
Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and so do the angels and those of knowledge — He is maintaining justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.

Each letter of the Quran carries 10 rewards. Manzil contains thousands of letters — so each recitation earns tens of thousands of good deeds.

👶
Protection for Children

Recite Manzil and blow on children, especially newborns and infants, for protection from spiritual harm and illness.

Complete Recitation Schedule: For full protection — once in the morning (after Fajr) and once in the evening (after Asr or Maghrib). For treatment of specific spiritual ailments — recite 7 times on water and drink/use for 7 days. For protection before sleep — recite once before bed.
1
Begin with Istiʿadha

Say "A'udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajeem" before starting. Then Bismillah. This opens a channel of divine protection.

2
Recite Surah Al-Fatiha First

Always begin with Al-Fatiha. The Prophet ﷺ described it as "the greatest chapter in the Quran" and a complete healing.

3
Recite with Tajweed

Recite each verse with proper Tajweed (pronunciation rules). If unsure, listen to a qualified reciter and follow along.

4
Blow on Water (for Ruqyah)

For treatment of magic/evil eye: blow lightly into water after reciting, then drink it. Repeat daily for 7–21 days.

5
Blow on the Body

The Prophet ﷺ used to blow on his hands after reciting Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas and wipe over his body. Do the same.

6
Consistency is Key

For prevention: twice daily for life. For cure: 3× daily for 40 days minimum, then reduce. Never abandon it completely.

Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is presently before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. 😌
Removes Fear & Anxiety

Knowing that the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining Allah never sleeps and is always watching over you removes all fear and brings tranquillity.

🌍
Protection in Travel

Recite before travelling. The Prophet ﷺ recommended Quranic Adhkar for protection during journeys, including Ayatul Kursi.

Essential Recitation Times: (1) After every Fardh Salah — for the path to Paradise. (2) Before sleeping at night — for angelic protection until morning. (3) Upon entering the home. (4) Before leaving the home. (5) When afraid or anxious. (6) Morning Azkar. (7) As part of Manzil recitation.
1
After Every Salah

This is the most important time. Immediately after Taslim (Salaam at end of prayer), recite Ayatul Kursi once. This is your key to Jannah.

2
Before Sleeping

Recite once before sleeping. The Prophet ﷺ told Abu Hurairah that doing so ensures an angel guards you until morning.

3
Entering & Leaving Home

Recite as you enter your home and when you leave. This creates a protective barrier around your household and journey.

4
Teach Children Early

Memorise Ayatul Kursi as early as possible and teach it to children. A child who knows it carries protection wherever they go.

5
Recite with Understanding

Read the English meaning regularly. When you understand "His Throne extends over the heavens and earth" — it changes how you recite.

6
Memorise It Today

Ayatul Kursi is one verse. It takes most adults 1–2 days to memorise. The rewards are eternal — make this a priority today.
